Doc Hofmann passes away

From Rich Hofmann:

Rich “Doc” Hofmann passed away peacefully on November 7, surrounded by his family after an extended battle with dementia.

He was the Kappa Chapter advisor from 1989 to 2005, guiding the chapter to win the Lion’s Trophy in 1992. As with the certainty of the leaves falling every September, he would come home from the first DKE meeting each year and talk about how the current men were the finest group of men he’s ever worked with. Certain also were the inevitable stories he would tell later each year about the various shenanigans that ensued, most of which cannot be published in a public forum.

He was always available to offer advice and assist, as best he could with school or life issues.

For years after his retirement, he would walk through the DKE house, occasionally introducing himself as Fred Yager, Whitelaw Reid, or Walt Havighurst to the young men at the house.

For all the crazy occurrences that occurred during his tenure as advisor, he only remembered the good things and often asked about how the young men, now graduates, were doing. He was exceptionally proud of each and every member of the Kappa chapter and was ecstatic when hearing of their success after college.
